Stevens Transport Successfully Implements Pegasus Truck Stop Scanning®
Noted for industry-leading business performance, refrigerated carrier builds on success of earlier TRANSFLO® imaging and workflow solution
May 19, 2009
Dallas, TX — May 19, 2009 — Stevens Transport has successfully implemented TRANSFLO Express® truck stop scanning service from Pegasus TransTech. The implementation expands a partnership between the companies that has helped the refrigerated carrier grow steadily without adding back-office personnel. Stevens Transport is nationally recognized as a top-performing fleet in Highest Net Profit Margins and Lowest Operating Ratio.
Stevens added TRANSFLO Express truck stop scanning last September, and after a smooth implementation, the company has quickly realized key benefits particularly for drivers, who have their trip documents scanned at the truck stop and then keep the originals. Kathy Whitaker, accounting manager for Stevens, said TRANSLO Express has already saved drivers a full day on their payroll cycle. It's also greatly reduced payroll-related disputes.
"Truck stop scanning gives our drivers more ownership of their payroll. It's better security for them now," Whitaker noted. "We're all about what's good for our drivers."
Officials at the Dallas-based company said the decision to implement Pegasus' truck stop scanning was influenced by five years of positive results from a TRANSFLO imaging and workflow solution. "Pegasus' TRANSFLO imaging and workflow system took at least two days off of our DSO," said Whitaker. "We were able to give our driver payroll personnel back some of the time they were losing to shuffling papers. We also saw our billing personnel being able to invoice our loads more quickly and accurately."
Whitaker said Pegasus has also played an important role in helping Stevens grow profitably. The carrier has the same size back office staff as it did five years ago, when it first implemented TRANSFLO imaging and workflow. "We've grown 8 to 12 percent each year since 2000. Running lean is very important to us, " Whitaker said.
Bob Helms, chairman and chief executive officer for Pegasus TransTech, said Stevens' decision to implement TRANSFLO Express underscores the significant return on investment the carrier has realized over the course of the two companies' relationship. "We're pleased that our work on behalf of Stevens Transport has played a role in their ability to become one of the industry's most profitable operations," noted Helms. "Today, fleets of all sizes and types are looking for new ways to drive down costs and enable profitable growth. Stevens' continued success speaks volumes about the benefits of technology- enabled business process improvement."
